Huis Esperanza is a home
for elderly people suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Cared for by
voluntary social workers and run by BADISA, a public welfare organization, there
is no government funding to support the residents with essential toiletries,
basic products and equipment needed to ensure hygienic and comfortable living.
We (A group of past pupils
from Voortrekker and Zwaanswyk High Schools) have decided to reach out and have
organized two exciting events to raise money in aid of Huis Esperanza and its
residents.
Four Ball Golf Day - 25 September 2014
What could be better than
a fabulous game of golf for a good cause?! Competitors will purchase a ticket
that will entitle them to a round of golf competing for the Charity Cup. Dinner
is included that evening followed by an auction at Strand Golf Club.
Old Boys Rugby Challenge – 27 September 2014
This exhilarating game
will see the past pupils of Voortrekker High School and Zwaanswyk High School
come face to face once again at False Bay Rugby Club for a grueling match not
to be missed (A rivalry of over 50 years). This fun family day will feature two
more phenomenal rugby matches with False Bay 1st and 2nd
teams taking on Rhodes University in two ‘curtain raisers’ for the Old Boys
Challenge. After these matches, the Springboks vs Australia Test match will be
screened live from the Sports Bar, The Bay.
How you can help:
In order to make both
these days successful we are reaching out for support in the form of Cash Donations, Service Supplies, Equipment
Supply and Sponsorship towards either event. You can also enter a 4-ball team
for the golf, perhaps challenging a competitor in the trade, or staff competing
against one another. Perhaps you prefer to sponsor a watering hole.
Your contribution, no
matter how big or small, will make a massive difference in aiding a better
standard of living for those suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s at Huis
Esperanza.
