We call on all Capetonians to obey and respect traffic signs.
Although Cape Town citizens are known for their friendly and relaxed personality’s it is amazing to see how many ignorant drivers there are on the roads of Cape Town.
After a study in Bothasig, Richwood and Plattekloof an average of 8/10 people ignore stop signs. Traffic lights on the corner of De Villiers and Wellington Road in Durbanville and the corner of Koeberg and Race Court Road are also problem areas that need to be attended to. These set’s of Traffic Lights changes every 3 to 4 minutes and drivers do get impatient and take mater into their own hands.
Another matter that needs urgent attention is the two sets of traffic lights on the off ramp from the N7 and Bosmansdam Road facing South. The timing and short shift of these traffic lights is way out of sequence and thus leading to major traffic build up in the mornings and afternoon. Busses and trucks use this route out of Montaque Gardens and on the red light they will squeeze in on the bend giving no change for the road users facing south to get on to Bosmansdam.
It also amazes one how well the pedestrian walk ways (Zebra Crossing’s) works in the Waterfront, but nowhere else in Cape Town. It just seems that people don’t care, unless it’s been controlled.
It also concern one that there is confusion on round-abouts (Traffic Circle’s).
