Coldplay’s songs have captured millions of fans around the world since the release of ‘Parachutes’ in 2000. A critical and commercial triumph, ‘Parachutes’ debuted at number one on the UK Album Chart and was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize. After the success of ‘Parachutes’, Coldplay began to work on their second album ‘A Rush of Blood to the Head’ (2002) which spawned popular singles ’The Scientist’, ‘In My Place’ and ‘Clocks’ winning Record of the Year at the 2004 Grammys. It became the bands first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and their first UK number one based on download sales alone.
Coldplay is undoubtedly one of the world’s best selling acts, with over 50 million album sales worldwide. They have won numerous awards through their career including six Brit Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, seven Grammy Awards and they have headlined major festivals including Coachella, Glastonbury and Isle of Wight Festival.
