Goldfish Back in Cape Town

his summer, Cape Town’s hottest club and restaurant, Shimmy Beach Club, will again host ten exclusive ‘Goldfish Submerged Sundays’ concerts, starting 29 November 2015.

Classically trained Jazz musicians David Poole and Dominic Peters, AKA Goldfish, infuse live instruments and vocals into their performances, creating celebrated combinations of organic and electronic music. In the same vein as electronic acts such as Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx and Massive Attack, their music blends House sounds with Jazz and African beats.

From their beginnings as UCT music students, Dominic and David have gone on to become one of the most original music duos in recent history – releasing award-winning albums and developing a live DJ show that sees them spend most of their schedule touring internationally, playing to sold out crowds.
“It’s all about live instruments”, says Dominic. “Dave plays saxophone and flute and I play electric double bass and keyboards. We mix this with dance beats and basically go nuts for about an hour and a half… sort of the re-invention of the DJ.”

From scooping record-breaking nominations at the South African Music Awards and being supported by Dr Dre, Faithless and Pete Tong, to performing at the Sydney Opera House, Amsterdam Olympic  Stadium, Glastonbury and Ultra Music Festival (Miami), Goldfish yet again prove why they are one of the most thrilling, live House outfits around.
Shimmy Beach Club, voted as Cape Town’s hottest Club by Zomato, balances the style of international party life and the laid-back atmosphere of Cape Town, making it a stylish venue to rival Ibiza’s beach club scenes. Malcolm Moodie Shimmy GM says, “Shimmy is more than just a venue, it’s a lifestyle –a premium entertainment hub that’s the perfect place for friends to have a good time.”

Goldfish Submerged Sundays runs from 29 November 2015 to 31 January 2016, every Sunday. Goldfish will be joined each week by a line-up of local or international DJ’s -the opening night features German dance sensation, Stimming.
