Cops hunt robbers - Cape Town shopping centre heist

Cape Town - Police are on the hunt for a gang who robbed two security guards of cash and their pistols at the Pick n Pay Centre in Tokai on Wednesday morning.
Provincial police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana told News24 that the robbery took place at about 07:50.
“According to reports, security guards were collecting cash takings of yesterday [Tuesday] when an unidentified suspect with a firearm got out of a vehicle which was parked in front of the [shops],” she said.
Two other suspects armed with an AK47 and a handgun approached the security guards and took their 9mm firearms and cellphones.
“Three unidentified suspects fled the scene in a silver BMW and white Nissan X-Trail with an undisclosed amount of cash,” Rwexana said.
One shot was fired, she said, but no one was injured.
The BMW with empty money bags was recovered later on Wednesday morning in a neighbouring suburb.
