Hot Air Ballooning - Cape Town

Wineland Ballooning

As the balloon is completely dependant on the wind and its direction, you never know where you will go. You float with the wind for about one hour. And our retrieve vehicle will follow on the ground to meet you at landing. Then it is hands on again to pack the equipment on the trailer. We return to Paarl to the Grande Roche Hotel for a delicious breakfast buffet.

Winelands Ballooning offers a unique adventure in the beautiful area of the Boland. The flights take place in the scenic Berg River Valley outside of Paarl, towards Malmesbury. Balloon flights in Africa usually take place at sunrise, before thermal activity starts. Before you come to the meeting point, we check the weather conditions and give you a wake-up call. Safe balloon flights depend on safe weather conditions. We cannot fly with fog, strong wind, too hot weather or rain. Ballooning is a sport and therefore everyone is welcome to help with rigging.
BallooningWe will explain how to assist with the inflation and within half an hour you will be airborne. Please listen to your pilot and follow his instructions for your own safety. There is no upper age limit, but you should feel fit to climb into the basket without help. The impact at landing might be as much as if one jumps from a chair. Children must be at least 1,20m high to be able to look over the basket rim.
A gentle ascent takes you well above tree top level and with a light breeze you fly away over fields, vineyards and orchards.
All manoeuvres are smooth and silent with the exception of the short bursts of the burner. Enjoy this wonderful feeling of freedom, floating through the sky as slow as a cloud and as free as a bird.
